Meet Emma Droutis, our Head of Creative. For the past three years, she has been an invaluable member of our marketing team at the Putney office. Let's take a closer look at her journey at Ettinger.
When did you join Ettinger and what was your role when you started?
Emma joined Ettinger in September 2021 as a part time Photographer and Graphic Designer. In this role, she was responsible for shooting products as well as creating designs for social media, emails and the website. Recognising her talent and dedication, the team quickly saw her as a great asset and decided to bring her on full-time a few months later to help further develop the creative side of our marketing.
Her position has now evolved to Head of Creative. In this new role, she has greater creative direction and the ability to successfully lead the creative process across a range of initiatives.
"Whilst I continue to create advertisements for magazines, both in print and online, my focus has now shifted towards photography and product development, which I enjoy and find very fulfilling.
Working with the factory to design and think of new ideas for products and implementing ideas for campaign and lifestyle shoots has been particularly rewarding and something I love being involved with."
What lead you to working this field in the first place?
Emma has always been a creative, exploring many different paths from a young age.
"For as long as I can remember I have always loved being creative. My passion began with learning to play the guitar at age six and continued with getting my first Minolta camera, which I still use today! I think I always knew I was going to pursue something in the ‘art’ world.
I wanted to study something that encapsulated all the things I was passionate about including photography, print design, fine art and art curation. This lead me to study Graphic Design at Falmouth University with the added bonus of being down in Cornwall and by the sea!
After graduating in 2018, I aimed to continue my creative journey and wanted to work in a stimulating environment, and I feel I have found my niche working for a brand like Ettinger.
In my spare time, I enjoy designing prints and making pottery on my wheel at home, further fueling my creative sprit!"
What do you enjoy about working at Ettinger?
Ettinger is one of those companies that feels like a family. With a small team of around 25 people between the Walsall factory and the Putney office, communication is seamless and close-knit.
"Working within a small team allows you to collaborate closely with each other and to form ideas quickly. This close-knit teamwork cultivates a supportive atmosphere where everyone’s contributions are valued.
I also absolutely love being a part of a brand with so much history behind it and with Robert being here, you really do feel like you are part of the Ettinger family."
What is your favourite product from Ettinger and why?
Over the 3 years Emma has been at Ettinger, there are two stand-out pieces that she can't go without; the Capra Glasses Case and the Saint Crispin Coin Purse.
"Both come with me everywhere I go. I don’t really carry cash around with me anymore but I like to have the option, which is why the coin purse works really well for me. I also have a real soft spot for my glasses case, I love getting it out on the table at a cafe or pub - always happy to show it off when I’m out and about!"
Are you currently working on exciting upcoming projects that you can share?
The second half of the year is always a busy period for every marketing team, with new product launches and preparations for Christmas, this year is no exception!
"2024 marks Ettinger’s 90th anniversary and to celebrate, we are putting together a video that captures out 90-year journey, craftsmanship and heritage. It’s a special project that we are all very proud to be contributing to.
Additionally, we are preparing for an upcoming lifestyle shoot for our products, which will really showcase these items in a new light. We’re also gearing up for a potential new product launch for Christmas, creating visuals to capture the festive spirit!"
