In the 1930s, Gerry Ettinger made himself a unique attaché case, which was slightly smaller than the established classic and much lighter, but still big enough to hold all his paperwork. This elegant attaché case is still used today by Robert Ettinger, his son, proving its extraordinary durability. Through its many years of use and appropriate care it has acquired an incomparable patina, making it even more attractive. In fact, Gerry Ettinger has proved to be a visionary, as our customers today prefer this smaller and lighter frame to the traditional attache cases. Whilst staying true to our heritage and over 80 years of experience in making traditional attaché cases, we always work on improving our classic cases to suit the modern needs.

This stylish London Tan attaché case is for those who enjoy traditional style in the modern world. The handmade in England case has the traditional English bridle leather exterior in Ettinger's signature colour - London Tan. For the interior choose between red, green or blue long grain skiver or natural suede. You can also choose the colour of the Ettinger logo inside the flap - gold, silver or blind emboss. We use only the very best brass locks and fittings to ensure that every part lasts as long as the leather. You can also choose to add on the option of having feet on the attaché case  (please get in touch should you wish to add this option). For the final touch, choose your initials, which will be placed under the handle to make this attaché truly yours.

The unique craftsmanship required to make it means that we can only make a few at a time, so please allow around 10 weeks for delivery.

Traditional English Bridle Hide

The most English of all leathers, traditional bridle hide is made using a lengthy and natural process involving centuries old tanning pits and painstaking hand-finishing. It is only in this way that we can achieve the thickness, durability and especially the distinctive look and feel of this traditional equestrian leather.

Skiver is a term commonly used to describe a dressed goat or sheep skin with a patterned embossing. Traditionally it is used as a lining and for book binding because it is very thin, supple and can have many effects applied onto it. We have ours glazed and embossed with a cross grain (also called paste grain) pattern and use this to line our attaché cases.

Natural Pig Suede

Pig suede has a silky touch and is instantly recognisable thanks to the little dots caused by the pig’s follicles. Pig skin is naturally thin and supple but this is enhanced further by several mechanical processes to massage and soften up the leather, once the skins have been chrome tanned and dyed through.
Suede is in fact the flesh side of the skin, which has been finely trimmed and brushed. It is a beautiful leather for lining fine leather accessories and bags.
