Ettinger and Gaziano & Girling are delighted to be unveiling and previewing a jointly crafted 'masterpiece' portfolio case - created especially for the UK government's GREAT Britain campaign - during the 2nd annual London Craft Week. Taking place across the Capital in over 100 venues, London Craft Week runs between the 3rd (Tuesday) and 7th (Saturday) May 2016.
The skill-sets needed to make small leather goods and bespoke shoes are very different and together Ettinger and Gaziano & Girling have explored these differences to make this unique portfolio that brings together their artistry, design and technical abilities whilst demonstrating British leather craftsmanship at its most creative.
The jointly crafted masterpiece portfolio will be on display in Gaziano & Girling's Savile Row shop during the week alongside two other products, a Gaziano & Girling shoe and an Ettinger Coat Wallet, each of which incorporate different elements used in the portfolio. On the opening day, Tuesday 3rd May, Robert Ettinger, Dean Girling and Tony Gaziano will be in the store to discuss the collaboration and the variety of techniques used.
Also during the week both Ettinger and Gaziano & Girling will be demonstrating specific crafts and skills to visitors, with an Ettinger craftsperson hand-crafting one of its small leather goods products from start to finish and Gaziano & Girling demonstrating bespoke shoe-making skills.
A specially created key fob using the same leather as the portfolio will also be available for visitors to purchase with all proceeds going to the Royal Warrant Holders' Association Charity, the Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust charity (QEST) which supports artisans' training via apprenticeships and scholarships.
After the week has concluded, the Ettinger x Gaziano & Girling portfolio will tour the world with the 'GREAT Creations Exhibition'. The UK government's GREAT Britain campaign promotes the best of the UK to international audiences, thereby encouraging them to visit, study and do business in the UK. The 'GREAT Creations Exhibition' features a number of specially created exhibits which showcase the best of British design and craftsmanship, including contributions from David Bailey CBE, Nicholas Oakwell, Mulberry and Aston Martin. www.greatbritaincampaign.com

GAZIANO & GIRLING:
Having earned their reputations working with some of London’s top bespoke shoe makers, Gaziano & Girling started their own bespoke and bench-made shoe company in 2006 and have developed their own creative style by taking the best of traditional English shoe-making techniques and combining them with a more contemporary design aesthetic, and some striking hand-patination skills. This led them to opening the first shoe shop on Savile Row, where this exhibition will be held.
